Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered online (please see our Online Access webpage for more information), sending an email to sxicb-esx.meadsprescriptionrequests@nhs.net or in writing to the surgery. For compliance reasons, we are not able to take repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

Please tick the items you require on the repeat request form attached to your last prescription. If you have more than one repeat prescription, please try and order all your items together. If you do not have a repeat request form you can either obtain one at reception or put your request in writing, ensuring that you include your name, date of birth and address.

If you collect your prescription form from reception, it will take a minimum of 48 hours for processing (requests are not processed over the weekend). If you collect it from a pharmacy it will take 72 hours. It would be greatly appreciated, if possible, that five working days are allowed for processing all requests. If you are ordering your prescription earlier than seven working days before they are due, please state the reason why, (for example you may be going away on holiday) otherwise it may not be possible to issue medication earlier than the expected due date.

Unless you are ordering online, please either deliver or post your request to the practice. If you would like us to post your prescription back to you, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

Prescription Pre-payment

For people who have to pay prescription charges and need regular medication, valuable savings can be made through the Prescription Pre-payment Certificate (PPC) scheme. Current charges and other information can be obtained by accessing the NHS Business Services Authority website at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk. Similarly, there are medical exemption certificates available for people with certain conditions, including epilepsy and diabetes (except where treatment is by diet alone), that provide an entitlement to free prescriptions and avoid the need to buy a PPC.
